The Verdigris Fire Department says they struggled to get water to the scene quickly due to the closest hydrant being more than a mile away. Eventually fire crews had to use a tanker shuttle to transport water.

Verdigris firefighters says that a man and a woman, along with two kids were home when the flames broke out and were waiting outside when crews arrived. Nearby family was contacted as well as the Red Cross.
