BIXBY, Okla. – A single engine plane landed in the middle of Memorial Drive Thursday afternoon.

Bixby police confirmed that a Cessna single engine plane landed on Memorial Drive near S. 120th Street in Bixby.

Witnesses on scene described the incident as bizarre and terrifying.

The plane was coming from Missouri and officials said the pilot's final destination is unknown.

No one was hurt in the incident, but several on-lookers were shaken up.

One witness said he was driving head on into the plane as it made its landing.

"The plane came out of the sky, coming straight at me," Don Martin said. "Like I said, he could've made a clean landing but a car pulled out in front of him and i"m sure they wasn't expecting an airplane either. That's when [the pilot] braked and he hit the sign and spun around and hit another sign."

Hitting the signs managed to tear up the plane's left wing, however that was the extent of the damage.

The plane's wings were taken off so it could be hauled away safely on a trailer.
