COWETA, Okla. -- Officials have identified the Broken Arrow police officer killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday as Eugene Orr.
Saturday, the Broken Arrow Police Department was notified of a traffic collision involving an off-duty police officer. The crash happened on Highway 51 and 111th Street in Coweta just before 3 p.m. Saturday.
Officer Orr, a decorated 12-year veteran of the Department, was transported to the hospital where he later died.
"We are broken hearted about the loss of our friend and colleague. Thank you in advance for everyone's understanding and patience as we move through this difficult time," said BAPD Chief David Boggs.
According to a press release, an investigation is currently underway.
The driver of the pick-up, 25 year-old Corey Campbell was uninjured.
The investigation is being turned over to the Wagoner County District Attorney's Office. They will decide if Campbell will face charges for allegedly crashing into Orr.
