Petition against Kepler filed by victim's bro.

Posted

TULSA – The former Tulsa police officer accused of fatally shooting his daughter’s boyfriend is now having to deal with another legal battle involving the brother of the victim.

The legal guardian of M. Hamilton, Barbara Webster, filed a petition with Tulsa County this week mandating that Shannon Kepler owes Hamilton around $75,000 in damages regarding the shooting of his brother,Jeremey Lake in 2014.

Webster’s legal team claims that because Kepler allegedly shot Lake when Hamilton was in the vicinity and then discharged his weapon in Hamilton's direction and shrapnel hit him as a result, that the former police officer should cover the cost of medical expenses as well as any expenses procured from any mental or emotional trauma.

The petition goes on to claim that Kepler “acted with intent to cause harmful contact with Mr. Hamilton.”
