Group calls for delay in Vision 2025 vote

TULSA – The City of Tulsa is working on fine-tuning a long list of projects for the next vision vote.

In just a couple of months, Tulsans will have the chance to vote on whether or not the Vision 2025 tax should be extended.

Among the items included on the list is a permanent fund for public safety. In addition to that, a series of economic development projects have been included, such as improvements to the Arkansas River and dams.

The group called Smart Growth Tulsa says the City should put a pause on the vote. They say people haven’t had enough time to study the program and what it means. The final version of the package was finalized in late December.

"It's been a little bit complicated, a little confusing, so now everybody is going to step back and take a look. So we support postponing the election until June or August and [giving] people a chance to weigh in and determine what are those projects that should have the highest priority."

Councilors have until January 28 to complete the ballot. The sales tax extension vote is set to take place April 5.
