LARRY EDWARDS WAS NOT AT HOME WHEN A FIRE STARTED AT HIS HOME. WHEN HE GOT THERE IT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. — Larry Edwards turned 74 on Tuesday. He's lived a long life, even served in the Air Force during Vietnam.
But his birthday celebration turned to tragedy early Wednesday morning when his house caught on fire. Edwards was not at home.
“I was over there visiting, watching 'Little House on the Prairie,'" he said.
He got a phone call and he rushed to the house.
“All the fire trucks and everything was already here,” Edwards said.
It was too late. Everything Edwards owned was up in flames.
“My heart just skipped a beat," he said.
Just one day after his birthday and nine days away from Christmas, Edwards finds himself without a place to stay.
Despite that, Edwards said he is thankful to still have the greatest gift of all.
"God saved me to be here," he said. "As far as the house is concerned, I can do something about that."
If you would like to help Edwards, you can send a donation to P.O. Box 2335 Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74126.
