DELAWARE COUNTY, Okla. -- An intruder was shot early Wednesday morning during a home invasion in Delaware County.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office deputies were sent to a home south of Leech after a 911 call around 1:15 a.m. The caller reported a home invasion and said the intruder had been shot.
The homeowners said they heard an unusual noise in the garage, and when they went to investigate, they found an air conditioner had been removed from the garage window.
One of the homeowners retrieved his .38-caliber revolver and shot the intruder after officials said intruder got between the male homeowner and his wife.
The male homeowner shot the intruder, who was identified as Dallas Luper, 21. Luper was struck below an eye and in his right shoulder.
Officials said Luper was the step-grandson of the homeowners. The homeowners said they couldn't tell who the intruder was, because he had a hoodie pulled tight over his face.
Luper was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
