TULSA - Tulsa Police say a man rammed into a police car a couple of times before taking off and leading officers on a chase in east Tulsa.

Police say they responded to the call at 2:30 a.m. near 51st and Memorial. They say a passerby reported an unmoving vehicle at the intersection.

When an officer approached the car, the driver allegedly made obscene gestures at the officer and put his car in reverse. The man then hit the police vehicle as he tried to back out, then fled the scene.

Officers chased him through a Walmart parking lot, an apartment complex and stopped at a dead end near a hotel at 21st and Mingo.

"Officers had deployed spike strips at both exits," said Sgt, Bristow with the Tulsa Police Department, "Both front tires are flat and completely gone."

Sgt. Bristow said the man didn't quickly comply with officers' demands, but after a few minutes, they arrested him without incident.

The suspect was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for eluding officers, assault with a deadly weapon and DUI.
