Passenger takes cab from driver at gunpoint

Posted

TULSA – A man is being sought by police after jumping in the driver seat of a cab and driving off.

Tulsa police say the suspect called for a cab to pick him up at QuikTrip located at 21st and Harvard at little after 11 p.m. Thursday. After reaching his destination on East Pine Street, the man pulled a gun on the driver and drove off.

"He forced the driver out of the car and robbed him at gunpoint, taking the driver's cell phone, wallet and keys, and the cab itself,” said Cpl. Will Toliver, TPD.

The driver was not hurt and authorities were able to locate the taxi cab but not the suspect.

Police say the cab driver described the suspect a black male in his early thirties and wearing a gray hoodie.

Officers are still working to obtain surveillance video of the suspect.
