TULSA – One man is currently in critical condition after police say he was shot by a man in self-defense.

Monday night officers responded to call for a suspicious person on South 69th East Avenue. While officers searched for the possible suspect, they heard two shots fired on the next street over.

Tulsa police say when they arrive they found a man with a bullet wound to the neck.

"A homeowner was out in his yard doing some work and was facing away from the road when he was doing his work, an individual walked up behind him and punched him in the back of the head, knocked him to the ground and started beating him,” said Capt. Eric Nelson.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Lance Claunch. Officer’s say the homeowner was injured during the fight but refused treatment.

Currently there are no official charges.
