SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - Late Easter Sunday Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a fire at Keystone Lake where several people were trapped on pier 51 and eight boats were engulfed in flames.
Firefighters say that most of the people that were trapped live at the marina. Most of those trapped have boats and were able to rescue themselves before fire crews arrived.
The Keystone Fire Department says the fire started in one of the boats, then spread to the rest of the dock. In total, seven boats were destroyed and extensive damage was caused to the docks.
A state fire marshal agent says the fire has been ruled accidental, though cause has not yet been determined. The fire marshal says it will likely be several days before the extent of damage is determined.
No one was injured during the fire. Officials tell 2 Works for You that the dock has been condemned. The Coprs of Engineers will now determine how to remove the boats.
