The gas station is located at Pine Street and MLK Boulevard. Police say an altercation happened last night between a white male and the store owner.
Police say the man allegedly went back to the gas station Sunday afternoon and began throwing trash cans and hitting windows.
The store owner shut the man out of the store but alleges the man wouldn't leave and continued being destructive.
Police say the store owner then fired one shot through the glass, hitting the suspect in the torso. The man was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
The wife of the gas station owner says she tried calling police twice, but only heard a recording. She claims no one ever called her back and that's when her husband shot the man.
