Both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 75 have reopened after a QuikTrip truck hauling a fuel tank caught fire Saturday night.

Multiple agencies responded around 10 p.m. They say 8,500 gallons of unleaded fuel burned between 116th Street North and 126th Street North after the truck's brakes malfunctioned.

Investigators say the brakes on the tanker malfunctioned, which may have sparked the fire.

In total, the truck was carrying about 8,500 gallons on fuel. Sunday morning, crews worked to get rid of the top layer of soil that still contains oil.
