SAPULPA — One westbound lane of I-44 has reopened after a FedEx semi truck caught fire this morning.

The semi truck caught fire and shut down lanes just before 6 a.m. this morning.

Sapulpa Fire Chief Brad Shields said the trailer caught fire and it was possibly started due to brake issues.

The truck was traveling westbound near West 111th Street when the fire occurred.

Shields said the driver of the semi was able to get out safely.

All westbound lanes were closed due to the fire, but one lane has since reopened.

Shields said the truck was carrying toothpaste and toiletry supplies on its way to the drugstore.
