TULSA – A group of shareholders connected to a prominent energy company are taking another step forward in the effort to stall an proposed merger that could take the company away from Tulsa.

A hearing is scheduled Thursday to discuss the motion to dismiss the complaint against the proposed Williams merger. According to court documents, the shareholder’s intent is to stop the merger from proceeding.

Earlier this year, Williams Co. announced its plan to merge with Dallas-based Energy Transfer Corporation, LP.

In the filing, the merger proposal would reduce operations in Tulsa and Oklahoma City significantly.

The Williams Company board of directors already approved the merger agreement in September 2015.
