TPD: Road may collapse after east Tulsa water main break

TULSA -- Tulsa police are diverting traffic after a large water main break on the east side Wednesday afternoon.

The 12-inch line break was reported near 11th and Mingo. Police said there is a possibility that a road will collapse in the area.

The inside lane was re-opened at 107th E. Ave. around 6 p.m. Water flooded the road because the water was not shut off until close to 5:30.

Crews were expected to start digging to prepare the break around 7:30 or 8 p.m.  They have to assess the damage before they can start those repairs.

The City is hoping repairs will be done by the morning, and crews tell us there is still a possibility of a sinkhole forming.
Police began diverting traffic around 5 p.m. as they awaited barriers from the City.

But traffic is still flowing through the area, just a little more slowly than usual.
