Couple goes viral after engagement on The Voice

A Tulsa couple shares a special moment with millions on national television.

Jubal Lee Young proposed to Amanda Preslar moments after they finished auditioning for "The Voice."

The musical duo known as Jubel and Amanda kept their engagement a secret until their audition aired Monday night, and now they said it's bringing them an overwhelming amount of attention.

"We're just over here doing life, having our little music school, singing our songs," Preslar said. "Then all of a sudden, it's just like woah."

Preslar and Young started dating last year after meeting online. She runs Preslar Music School, located near Cherry Street, in Tulsa. The couple went with some of her students to Oklahoma City earlier this year to audition for "The Voice."

"The purpose of going," Preslar said, "was to support our students and to show them that you know what, no matter how old you are, you can chase your dreams and just be an example."

Despite performing on stages across the world, Young said his nerves surfaced while singing for the coaches, but he said he felt even more pressure thinking about the question he planned to ask Preslar afterward.

"It was all the sneaking around arranging to have that ring in my pocket and pull off the masterful, sly thing I did," Young said.

"He was sneaky," Preslar added.

During their audition, the couple harmonized to "Seven Bridges Road," a song made famous by The Eagles and written by Young's father. Coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams turned their chairs.

Before they decided which team to join, Young got down on one knee and asked Preslar to marry him.

"It took me two days to come out of the what-just-happened moment," Preslar said, laughing. "It was like a blackout that happened because it was like okay, it's stressful enough to be doing the blind auditions and then on top of having another big moment like that, it took about two days for the details to start coming back in my brain. Getting to relive it all on TV last night was so fun."

Young said he suspected their engagement would get some attention once the episode aired, but they're getting more than they ever imagined.

"Seeing how far-reaching it's been today is shocking," Young said.

"It's pretty crazy," Preslar added.

The couple ended up picking Pharrell as their coach, and now they're sworn to secrecy about the next rounds of competition.

They would like to thank the community for all the support they've received so far, and they hope people will stay tuned for what's to come on the show.
