At this time, police are not releasing the names of either of the victims.

Friday night, officers responded to the Holiday Express Motel near Charles Page Boulevard and South 33rd West Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. The first victim died shortly after midnight Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (918) 596-2677 or the homicide tip line (918) 798-8477.

The double homicide marks Tulsa's 71st homicide of 2016, matching 2009's record of 71 homicides.

Sergeant Dave Walker says he blames the increase on people making bad decidions with guns. Walker went on to say there's no pattern in any of the cases, and there's little the department can do to prevent more homicides from happening.

"It's just a big number, physically I think we're all up to it and we can carry on. I think it's an anomoly, I don't think we're going to see these numbers again next year or the year after that," said Walker.
