TULSA -- "We have robberies a lot, but never shootings." Candace Stretch said it's scary knowing the couple down the street from her Northwest Tulsa home, were both killed Sunday afternoon.
"I'm surprised that it was this close to home," said Stretch.
Just after 1:00 pm, Tulsa Police responded to a call of shots fired at a home near the 4000 block of west 8th street. That's where they say a man came out of the home with a long gun.
"When officers got here the individual came out once and I believe went back inside the residence, ultimately came back outside in the street and was pointing the weapon," said Tulsa Police Department PIO Leland Ashley.
Police said an officer then shot the suspect, killing him. Investigators then went inside the home, where they say a woman and three dogs were found dead and a fourth dog injured. Police said all had been shot.
"We discovered that after this individual was shot. So we assumed that he's probably the person responsible for her death," said Officer Ashley.
Tulsa Police believe the suspect and the woman were married. Stretch said she didn't see them out together often, but the news of their death hit too close to home.
