Dodson says he knows who stabbed him Saturday night, and he gave deputies a statement from the hospital.

“The description, the name of the person that I gave to the Ofuskee County Sheriff’s Department was not James Coale," Dodson said.

"The police officers know what they drive, especially if they’re involved in illegal activities," Dodson said. "It just blows my mind that I give them specific details on what he was driving, the guy’s name, and then it comes out today that James Coale is the one that stabbed me; and that is not correct.”

Dodson said he's known Coale most of his life.

“Easy to get along guy, I’ve never seen him upset, and he loved his kids more than anything," he said.

The sheriff's office handed the case over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. It will hand over its findings to the district attorney. The DA will then decide whether or not to press charges against the deputy.
