A legacy of Connection: Celebrating 70 years of storytelling in Green Country
For the past seven decades, the heartbeat of Green Country has been captured through the lens of one newsroom.
From covering historic events to shining a light on untold stories, our mission has been clear: to listen, advocate, champion, and hold accountable the people and institutions that shape Oklahoma.
On Dec. 5, 2024, we commemorate our 70th anniversary — a milestone that not only reflects our history but also looks toward the future of storytelling in a rapidly changing world.
A shared Journey
Since the station's founding, we’ve grown alongside Tulsa and the communities of Green Country. When we first went on air, our region was a much different place.
Tulsa was still finding its identity, and television was a budding medium. But one thing was clear from the start — this newsroom would be a voice for the people.
Local News
We've chronicled the moments that defined us — from economic booms and busts to natural disasters, triumphs, and resilience.
Through it all, we’ve never lost sight of our responsibility to tell stories with accuracy, empathy, and integrity.
Stories that shaped us
Over the years, our newsroom has covered transformative events with an unflinching focus on what matters most.
Trailblazing women that defined us
No celebration of our history would be complete without honoring the groundbreaking women who helped shape it. The legacy of the women in our newsroom is one of innovation and strength. They've paved the way for a new generation of storytellers.
Looking ahead
As we celebrate 70 years, we do so with gratitude and an eye for the future. The way people consume news has changed dramatically since our first broadcast, but our purpose remains the same. As we embrace new technologies and platforms, we are more committed than ever to delivering the stories that matter to you.
We also recognize that the trust you’ve placed in us over the decades is what truly defines our legacy. Every report, every investigation, and every feature is guided by the knowledge that we are part of a shared community.
Thank you, Green Country!
Seventy years of news is not just a station’s history – it's a community’s history. Thank you for allowing us to grow with you, sharing your stories, and trusting us to tell them. Together, we’ve made Green Country brighter, stronger, and more connected. Here’s to the next chapter in our journey, one we’re honored to write with you.
