KJRH has a new addition to the  2 Works for You News Team, Chera Kimiko.

Chera will co-anchor 2 Works for You at 5 p.m. alongside Brian Sanders. She’ll also be concentrating on her passion; profiling the people working hard and making sacrifices to improve Tulsa and all of Green Country. Chera's first broadcast will be Dec. 5. You can watch it live here.

“I am beyond excited for Chera to join our growing team here at KJRH-TV,” said News Director Michael McCardel.  “She’s both active in, and committed, to the local community. And that will add a tremendous amount of value to our news coverage. That knowledge, and those connections, will only help our viewers navigate an increasingly complex world.”

“I am very excited to be back on air!,” said Chera. “I thought I was heading in a different direction but the ‘2 Works for You’ family offered me an incredible opportunity that I couldn't refuse.”

“Being back in your home on a nightly basis and continuing my TV career is a blessing and a wonderful opportunity,” Chera continued. “Thank you, I'm extremely grateful!”

2 Works for You is happy to add Chera and her 22 years of experience in journalism to its team of news gatherers. She’s been an award-winning journalist in Tulsa for 15 years, developing valuable contacts and knowledge of the entire Green Country area. During that time, she’s won an Edward R. Murrow Award, the Russell L. Cecil Medical Journalism Award given by the Arthritis Foundation for her story, "Joints In Motion," the International Communicator Award of Excellence for her part in the series, "Portraits of Courage," and the Outstanding Friendship Award given by Tulsa International Airport and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Chera is also very involved in the community. She’s been voted as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” leaders in the state of Oklahoma and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has also named Chera as one of Tulsa's Top Twenty Leaders. She’s a committee member of Tulsa Girls Art School (TGAS), and the Susan G. Komen Pink Stiletto. She's also a member of the Tulsa Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, and a member of the Broken Arrow Chamber. Chera donates her time to Dress For Success and the Muscular Dystrophy Association searching for a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease (also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS).

In her personal time, Chera loves to exercise and is a Boston Qualifier marathon runner. Her first marathon was the Walt Disney World Marathon in Orlando, Florida to benefit the American Heart and Stroke Association in honor of family members who have had strokes and heart disease. Her 15th and 16th marathons were the prestigious Boston Marathon.

Chera also enjoys golf, weight lifting and aerobatic flying and is also a former competitive figure skater. One of her most exciting ice skating moments was skating pairs during a live newscast with 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist Brian Boitano.

Please make sure to welcome Chera as she joins our team. Chera’s first day will be Nov. 28, and she’ll begin appearing on-air on Dec. 5.
