TULSA, Okla. — Researchers, Tulsa City members, and the community move forward in the search for mass graves from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
Investigators set an October 7 date to break ground by radar.
They believe bodies were left at three different Tulsa cemeteries: Oaklawn, Rolling Oaks, and Newblock Park. A fourth site was added near Newblock Park.
Unviersity of Oklahoma researchers have spent the past few months at those locations looking for exact areas to scan using ground-penetrating radar to find any remains.
After the scan, it will take a month for data to be processed.
Depending on what is found, excavation would then start.
