TULSA – One person is dead and another is suffering from a head injury after an early morning crash in south Tulsa.

A fatality collision team is investigating the crash that occurred on 81st and Sheridan. Police believe the driver, Kenneth Taylor, 22, was westbound on 81st and might have crashed into a light pole before the car was engulfed in fire.

A woman, Lyndsie Stedman, 19, who was a passenger, was taken to a nearby hospital with a head injury. Police believe that she will survive.

The fire department was able to put out the fire before police arrived.

"Obviously we're in the beginning stages of the investigation so we don't know if alcohol was involved...we have a fatality collision team and they'll begin their investigation,” said Sgt. Demario Gay, Tulsa Police Department.

Authorities say they do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in this wreck.
