Living Arts of Tulsa, in partnership with Guthrie Green and Casa de la Cultura is hosting Tulsa's annual Día de los Muertos Arts Festival on November 1st, 2019, 5:00 - 11:00 PM.
Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a celebration of the Hispanic heritage honoring loved ones who have passed away. This year the event will be held from Living Arts of Tulsa (307 East Reconciliation Way), to Guthrie Green (111 East Reconciliation Way).
The southern blocks along East Reconciliation Way between Living Arts of Tulsa and Guthrie Green will be blocked off for merchant vendors and food trucks. Merchant vendors and food trucks will be open from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. Performances will take place at Guthrie Green from 5:30 - 9:00 PM, culminating in the procession to Living Arts of Tulsa to bless the altars.
Featured Events at Living Arts for November 1st Festival (5:00 - 11:00 PM):
Activities will include face painting, sugar skull decorating, churros, dance floor with DJ, and bar. The festival will celebrate Día de Los Muertos traditions with a display of altars to honor those who have passed. Altars will be blessed at 9:00 PM, the procession will start at the Guthrie Green Stage and end at Living Arts of Tulsa.
Altars will be up at Living Arts of Tulsa through November 23rd, 2019. The cornerstone of the Día de Los Muertos Arts Festival are the altarpieces, decorated for the spirits of those who have passed from this earth. In Hispanic culture spirits of the dead are remembered and believed to return to join the living who are holding vigil by their altar.
Featured Events at Guthrie Green - 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Guthrie Green will host all merchant vendors and food trucks from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. A map of all vendors will be published closer to the festival date. Guthrie Green will have a giant sugar skull and flower instillation on their stage.
Guthrie Green will host all performances on their stage from 5:30 - 9:00 PM. Full schedule of performances will be announced on October 1st, 2019. Current performing artists include Beyana Band, Danza Santa María, Ballet Folklórico Sol Azteca, Grupo Soniak, & more!
