The family of a shooting victim is asking the public to help police find the man believed to be responsible and who also happens to be the person who called 911 when the incident occurred.
Tulsa detectives say Alonzo Kelly, who is now believed to be the suspect, called 911 after Charletta Thomas was shot.
According to detectives, Kelly frantically told the emergency line, “I don’t know [what happened], man. My girl is laying here shot.”
The call continued with Kelly telling dispatch that his home was “torn up” and he had no idea who shot Charletta Thomas.
The sheriff’s department says they now believe Kelly shot Thomas as a result of a domestic dispute. When deputies arrived on scene, Kelly was gone.
Richard Deberry, Thomas’ brother, says her loving heart led to her death as she tried to change a broken man's life for the better. Thomas’ family says they come to understand the relationship Thomas was engaged in involved constant harassment and physical abuse.
"She asked me one day ... she said 'Do you think people can change?' And I knew she was pertaining to him [sic]," said Deberry.
Now, Charletta Thomas’ family is seeking help to find Kelly.
Deputies say Kelly has a criminal history and spent time in prison. They believe he could be in Oklahoma City and is considered armed and dangerous.
If you know his whereabouts, you are asked to call the sheriff's department.
