Attorneys from the American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma, and partners, sent a letter Monday to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections urging them to address the "inhumane treatment" of inmates on death row at the McAlester Penitentiary.

The group sent a letter to the DOC outlining claims of unconstitutional policies concerning solitary confinement.

The letter also calls out a prison policy that bans death row inmates from attending religious worship services.

The ACLU says the ban is "unnecessary and violates religious-freedom rights."
