An amber alert has been cancelled after a one-year-old was returned to his mother, but police are still searching for the father who abducted the child.

Tulsa police put out an amber alert a little after 11 Thursday night, after one-year-old Treyson Buchanon was abducted by his father at knife point.

Officers tell us 24-year-old Terrel Buchanan assaulted the child’s mother at an apartment near 91st and Riverside.

Buchanon reportedly grabbed the child and threatened to kill his mother if she called for help.

Police believed the child was in danger because of the father’s violent history.

At some point early Friday morning, Buchanon gave the child to his family so they could coordinate a hand-off with police.

The child is now safe and with his mother, but Buchanon is still missing.

Anyone with information about where he is is urged to call police.
