TULSA — Anita Hill has spent decades advocating for gender and racial equality, and all of her hard work was honored over the weekend.
"I kept hearing about so many people who had no awareness of what their rights were, I realized I had an opportunity and calling," said Anita Hill, Sankofa Award Recipient.
Officials say Hill, a native-Oklahoman, received the 2020 Sankofa Award at Tulsa's Rudisill Library on Saturday.
Since then, she's defended workers' rights, using the civil rights movement and her own experience as inspiration.
The award is presented by the Tulsa City-County Library's African-American Resource Center and the Tulsa Library Trust.
