BROKEN ARROW -- Oneta Ridge Middle School mourning the loss of 44-year-old Shane Anderson, a teacher shot and killed at his Tulsa home Sunday afternoon.
Monday students wrote notes in remembrance of the 7th grade geography teacher.
Messages filled the hallway, dry erase board and glass.
Tulsa police say Andersen was shot and killed by 16-year-old Deonte Green in front of his wife and children.
The school district is calling it a terrible and senseless act of violence.
"They drew pictures, they wrote poems, they just wrote words of encouragement," Principal Mickey Replogle said. 'They've written letters to his family."
Between 50 and 75 students left school Monday unable to control their emotions. A substitute will fill Mr. Anderson's shoes until a permanent teacher is hired.
