Today's influential African American we're highlighting for Black History Month is James O. Goodwin.
Goodwin is a founding member of the Community Health Foundation and former chairman of the Tulsa City-County Board of Health.
He was recognized for 50 years of service to the board.
Goodwin also was an attorney and publisher of the Oklahoma Eagle, a historical black newspaper circulated throughout the Tulsa area.
