Breakdown of lottery money for OK education

TULSA - $706,920,639.

That's how much money has been raised for education in the state of Oklahoma from the lottery as of Dec. 9, 2015, according to the Oklahoma Lottery.

WHERE DOES THE LOTTERY MONEY GO?

45 percent - Elementary and secondary education, which is Kindergarten through 12th grade. More than $318 million has been contributed. The money goes toward public school teachers' compensation, support employees and childhood development programs. Oklahoma Lottery says it also goes to fund educational facility construction, capital outlay projects and technology upgrades.

39.5 percent - Higher education. More than $279 million has been contributed. The money goes toward tuition grants, loans and scholarships for Oklahoma residents, endowed chairs for professors and renovations and expansions projects, as well as facility construction, technology upgrades and capital outlay projects.

5.5 percent - Equipment upgrades and scholarships for CareerTech.

5 percent - School consolidation and assistance fund.

5 percent - Teachers' retirement system dedicated revenue revolving fund.
