CLAREMORE, Okla. -- Police are investigating a man's death as a homicide after officers found his body Sunday morning.
Police said they performed a well-being check near North Dorothy Avenue and East Seventh Street at about 6:30 a.m. Officers arrived and found a man dead.
Police took in several people from the scene to question them, while they investigated what happened. Police said a suspect has been identified, and currently investigators are interviewing that person.
According to a news release, police called this an "isolated incident" and do not believe there are any additional suspects.
Claremore Police have identified the victim as 51-year-old Mark Kale McKinney a white male. The MEs office will determine the manner of McKinney’s death.
53-year-old Michael Eugene Spears was arrested by Claremore Police for first degree murder and conjoint robbery.
Investigators learned that McKinney was a visitor to Spear’s home when an altercation ensued, resulting in McKinney being killed with a sword. 49-year-old Larry Gene McCoy Sr. came to the Spears home after McKinney was murdered. Spears and McCoy took property from McKinney’s body after his death so both were arrested for robbery.
The investigation is still on-going by Claremore police.
