TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa County residents had to wait several hours to sign up for a vaccination appointment through the Oklahoma Vaccine Portal on Thursday.

The Tulsa Health Department said once it obtained access to the system, it successfully added 2,600 Tulsa County appointments for first doses next week.
As the state works out the portal problems, the sign-up process is still confusing and frustrating for many Oklahomans.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health said after registering online, you should receive a confirmation email within 24-hours and then get a second email later when you’re eligible to receive the vaccine with a link to sign up.
Jean VanLandingham said she was excited to finally be able to sign up to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
But after registering Thursday, she ran into a problem.
“Get down to where you to all of your information, it says select a site," she said. "There were no dates available.”
VanLandingham still hasn’t received a registration confirmation email even though she could select a location and the vaccine registration site says she’s registered.
As she tries to navigate how to get the vaccine, she said the entire process needs to be clarified.
“I think that’s all anyone’s asking," she said. "Is explain it just a little bit further. Most of us that are filling it out now are over 65, we’re not tech-savvy, so to speak.”
Now that the Vaccine Scheduler Portal is working in Tulsa County, VanLandingham hopes to be able to schedule her shot soon so she can feel more at ease.
“I know I’m not going to get it tomorrow, I would just like a date to get it," she said. "It can be a month from now. But at least I have something to look forward to.”
