EDMOND, Okla. — Julius Jones has been on death row for 17 years for the murder of Paul Howell. The Oklahoma County District Attorney and Howell’s family are convinced they have the right man…but years later, questions still linger.
Jones has always maintained his innocence. Kim Kardashian even tweeted Governor Kevin Stitt asking for Jones’ clemency.
“But he doesn’t know what twitter is, so," said Antoinette Jones, Julius' sister.
All jokes aside, Julius Jones' family says they are 100% convinced he is not Howell’s killer.
“I know exactly where he was at," said Julius' father, Anthony Jones. "We were sitting at the uhh, we were sitting watching the TV eating spaghetti on the sofa.”
“At the time that it happened, I know where Julius was,” said Madeline Jones, his mother.
His parents maintain he was at home during the time Howell was killed. They say along with their other children being home, another adult was there, who could verify Jones’s alibi.
"But no, we were never called for… to…for his defense," said Jones sister, Antoinette Jones.
In fact, no defense witnesses testified on Jones' behalf.
“But I would like him to get a fair trial," said Jones' mother.
