Deanna Lemons, Miss Lemons, as her students call her, puts the focus on her students.

Miss Lemons has been an educator for thirty-six years, she came to Claremore six years ago as the Special Ed. Department Chair.

She tells us, “We have the most fantastic department here at the high school. I told them a long time ago that if I knew it was going to be this good, I would have come sooner.”

She fell into special ed. while she was a student at ORU, and it’s been a perfect fit.

Lemons says, “I love helping the underdog and I think our whole department does. I think kids are just the same, and you need to know where they're coming from, that's the most important thing. You need know why they act the way they act.”

Alyssa Adragna, a senior at Claremore High School, tells us she moved to Claremore her sophomore year, and Miss Lemons was the first person to befriend her.
