Today the men and women who fight fires had a chance to honor some of their own.
Each year the Tulsa and Oklahoma City Fire Department join others nationwide in remembering firefighters they lost over the course of a year.
Today the group honored 18 people they lost and their families that now have a life-long bond with the fire department.
Ray Driskell, Fire Chief of the Tulsa Fire Department
"You can see this is really about the families and the community support in the way that they do support these families makes you feel good inside."
The chief says they try to show how important this event is for the new firefighters as well.
