TULSA — The maximum heat index in Northeast Oklahoma reached around 110 degrees today.

We spoke to Steven Tony, a Tulsa resident, about how him and his family are beating the heat.

Steven Tony tells us, "It's, it's pretty rough out here today. The temperature which, it's not normally like this. You just can't get away from I the heat".

Parents at the Gathering Place have several places to choose from to take a break and cool off.

Tony said "we try to keep her in the shade whenever it's not cloudy and just kind of sticking around the water park areas of the gathering place".

Tony and his wife also say the amount of time their daughter is in the sun is crucial to keep track of.

"Sometimes when the sun is just directly on her and it's really humid I don't like her being out here very long because as the years have gone by, the weather is just more and more severe. The heat is just unreal".
