CATOOSA, Okla. — An elderly woman is dead after a fire at Molly's Landing just north of Catoosa on Nov. 24, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Firefighters responded to the restaurant on Highway 66 just before 2 a.m. Friday. Catoosa, Rolling Hills, Oak Grove, Verdigris, and Limestone fire departments responded.

On Monday, the State Fire Marshal's Office told 2 News the fire started in the kitchen and appeared to be accidental. Fire officials believe the fire was electrical.

2 News is waiting on the Oklahoma Medical Examiner to identify the woman killed.

Last week, 2 News talked to employees about the restaurant and the devastation of the fire.

A gaping hole in the roof and a restaurant burnt to a crisp isn't what Heather Sutherland expected to wake up to, "I am trying to breathe and understand this happens," she told 2 News.

Her mother worked in the gift shop at Molly's Landing for ten years because she said the owners treated employees the right way. In her words, the restaurant was eclectic and unique. It's been in the same spot off Route 66 in Catoosa since 1984.

Sutherland said the owner's an artistic woman, and stepping into the restaurant often felt like a museum.

"From what my mom said, she had a log cabin kit that they built, and this was her land - and it expanded over the years and grew into this," Sutherland said.

Fire officials are still determining whether or not the restaurant on the bottom level is salvageable.
