The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported the first two deaths in the state this season caused by the flu.
The two people who died were over 65 years old, officials said. 105 people have been hospitalized for influenza statewide during this flu season.
Health officials said the number of flu cases is relatively high for this time of year, and officials are concerned that the risk for spreading the flu during the holiday season will be high. Those at highest risk are children younger than five years old and people over 50 years old.
Officials said the best way to avoid contracting the flu is to get the flu vaccine.
