Friends and colleagues are mourning the death of actor Sid Haig after his wife announced that he died over the weekend at the age of 80.

The horror icon is best known for his work in Rob Zombie's cult classics like "House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects."

Actors, producers and directors shared their grief on social media to react to the death of the actor.

Actress Fiona Domenica starred alongside Haig in the indie film "High on the Hog" released this year.

"My first lead role in a movie was with a horror icon," Domenica said in a statement to KJRH. "It was a pleasure."

Musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie also shared his tribute to Haig on Facebook, including fond memories and personal pictures on set.

Tony Wash, who directed Haig in "High on the Hog," talked about what it was like working alongside his friend and mentor.

Producer Kevin Lockhart, who also worked with Haig in "High on the Hog," discussed how fortunate he was to have worked with Haig for several years. Lockhart is currently filming an untitled documentary about Haig, according to his IMDB profile.
