Because January is one of the most popular times of year to start searching for a new job.
Consider it "New Year... New Job."
Hiring managers tell us the Tulsa job market is competitive, so you have to promote yourself effectively.
If you're feeling unmotivated at work, now may be the time to start looking for a new job.
Lauren Lewis says, "When's someone is stuck in a rut feeling bored in their job or they don't like the culture they are not felling really challenged, that's when you want to start thinking about the next opportunity."
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in the Tulsa area is 3.5 percent.
That's way down from a decade ago, when it was 8.2 percent.
Employment experts say the job market is great right now but you should always know what opportunities are out there.
"Sometimes having conversations with people, talking about different conversations with people, what other people do, can help you learn more."
So what can you do to get your search started?
You should check out both the company website and sites like Linkedin.
They can both help you find jobs and network.
And don't be afraid to put yourself out there and show you're interested.
Many people are even doing something that would've been off-limits years ago.
They're reaching out to potential managers and co-workers to get their perspective.
Hiring experts say it's absolutely permitted these days.
"Pick their brain about the job opening and find out more about it. Why it's open? If they are interviewing any people? And maybe if that person can help get your resume in front of the hiring manager?"
