Keeping people healthy, both mentally and physically

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Keeping people healthy is now more important than ever, but for Grand Lake Mental Health Center, that doesn’t end at their physical health.

GLMHC specializes in mental health, and for years has been working to make it easier for clients to reach out. Counselors can meet with clients face-to-face, but can safely social distance from the other side of a screen.

That's thanks to telehealth, which has been an increasingly popular way for doctors and counselors to meet with patients, especially in rural counties. Counselors say whatever can put them in front of someone who needs them as quickly as possible is best.

GLMHC coordinates with Claremore Police to be available on the spot if someone needs them. They have also distributed iPads to people who need them in 12 counties. Now, the iPads people can use to get in contact with counselors are becoming much more important, as they're keeping both parties physically healthy as well.
