TULSA, Okla. — Many small businesses stayed open Thursday for last minute holiday shoppers. Tulsa’s Cherry street saw a steady flow of traffic and shoppers Thursday as local shops tried to keep up with demands.

Stores like Ascent and Pearson’s gallery had their best items on display in hopes to entice patrons walking by. Meanwhile, Magnolia is the new kid on the block. Opening just two weeks ago, the all natural soap-shop welcomes customers for their biggest day yet.

Black Wall Street Tees and Souvenirs also saw a bump in sales Thursday. Visitors to Tulsa, gathered at the store to buy their iconic “Black Wall Street” printed tee-shirts. Manager of the store, Cyndii Cosper told 2 Works for You the holiday season is a great time to support Tulsa’s economy.

“It’s time for us to get back to a family mentality. We need to take care of one another," Cosper said. "The big corporations and conglomerates, they’re good for what they do, but we definitely need to support the local business."

Lynda Pearson, owner of Pearson’s Gallery shares a similar sentiment.

“There are places you take for granted until they’re gone, and then it’s too late,” Pearson said.

While the annual shopping season may be over, many local shops are continuing their deals through January.
