Man arrested overnight after shots fired near Brookside in midtown Tulsa, police say

TULSA — A man was arrested overnight Friday after officials said he was firing a gun in the middle of the roadway near Brookside in midtown Tulsa.

Officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of South Peoria at 2:18 a.m.

A witness said the suspect, Antonio Henderson, had been in a verbal altercation with a group of people, after which he started driving back and forth in his vehicle, ultimately stopping in the middle of the roadway.

Witnesses said Henderson got out of his vehicle with a firearm in his hand and began firing down towards the ground.

A citizen nearby became concerned that the man would was going to fire at a group of people nearby. The citizen ran towards Henderson and tackled him, police said. The citizen held the man there until police arrived.

Henderson was arrested on counts of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless handling of a firearm and public intoxication.
