TULSA -- Chris Register said he needs to find out if American's feel the nation is divided. Now he's hitting the road, cycling 17 thousand miles across the country looking for answers.

"I wanted to get out and see what folks are really thinking and how they feel about the state of our country," said Cycling Journalist Chris Register.

Register is currently on the 5th leg of his 50-state bicycle tour and interview project. Cycling 50 miles a day for 6 weeks and asking people what they think is working or isn't working today in America.

"It's good to have the opportunity to really share how I feel about how this country is doing," said Liza Mata

Today register interviewed Liza Mata, who moved to Tulsa from Venezuela when she was 16. She believes there are more things uniting Americans than dividing.

"I believe that everybody should work toward the common goal of really making it possible for everybody to succeed if they want to succeed," said Mata.

Register said he's already learned so much from talking to people throughout his journey. He said he hopes he can help bring more people together.

I hoping what we find is that we're not really as divided as some would have us believe and we can find things around which we can kind of unite," said Register.
