Former and current city officials bickered over Mayor Dewey Bartlett's involvement in the successful vision vote Thursday night on social media.
It all started at Tuesday's mayoral debate. City Councilor GT Bynum suggested Mayor Bartlett took credit for the Vision package that, he says, should have been shared with others.
Bartlett took to social media to prove he deserved credit, and Councilor Blake Ewing jumped into the battle.
The Facebook post supporting Bynum called Bartlett out about not showing up for work, taking credit for others' work and failing to lead.
Soon, former Mayor Kathy Taylor chimed in about Bartlett accusing her of negative campaigning in the past. Another former mayor, Terry Young, said he's "all in" in response to Ewing's post. And a former city councilor, called for leadership, he says, that's been missing for 15 years.
Ewing told 2 Works for You "The mayor needed to be called out on his nonsense. Anybody who watched the debate knows GT wasn't attacking him. For him to make that accusation while claiming credit for work he didn't do was offensive and deserved to be corrected."
We reached out to Mayor Bartlett, who was unavailable for comment.
