After an emotional plea from the family of victim 29-year-old Christopher Blanton, one man turned himself into authorities.
Garrett Freeman turned himself in to authorities Thursday morning after he called U.S. Marshals and told them to pick him up at a relative’s house.
Wednesday night family members of Blanton asked Freeman to turn himself in.
“Garrett please, I’m begging you for my brother’s sake for your family’s sake, turn yourself in let’s put this to an end,” Amber McConnell, Christopher’s sister said.
Freeman is now in jail for first degree murder.
Two other men, who were at the house when the shooting happened, turned themselves in as well. Investigators believe drugs may have caused the argument that led to Blanton’s death.
Right now, MPD says they will not face any charges.
Blanton’s mother and sister say meth ruined his life and that he recently became caught up in the wrong crowd.
His family hopes their tragedy will inspire others to face addiction head on.
