McAlester PD searches for suspects in homicide

Posted

Police say two McAlester men are on the run because of their connection to the murder of 29-year-old Christopher Blanton.

McAlester police were called out to a house on Comanche Avenue Tuesday and when they arrived they found Blanton with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police say Garrett Freeman is responsible for shooting Blanton, and hasn’t been seen since the incident.

MPD detectives say Jonathan Shane Powell is still at large and will likely be charged as an accessory to murder.

Michael Medley is also accused of being an accessory to murder and was arrested early Tuesday morning.

A woman staying at the house was able to tell police what happened.

“One of the men that we’re looking for owed Blanton money, they go into a bedroom there, hear some arguing then a gun shot, then that’s when the three men left,” Sgt. Chris Morris explained.

If you have any information about the suspects whereabouts, please call McAlester Police.
