TULSA — A new study from Healthy Minds Policy estimates that this pandemic could drive short term unemployment as high 32 percent of the workforce.
And for those affected, unemployment leads to stress which can lead to substance abuse or suicide.
That's why so many addiction and mental health groups are reaching out making sure the public knows they can help.
The report is pretty scary. It talks about the pandemic effect on adults and children.
So 2 Works for You's Mike Brooks went to an expert to find out about stress, and what happens when you make a call to a group who can help.

'For some people stress mike is simply over the fact that they are in an essential job and they are having to interact with people that potentially are asymptomatic and covid positive, and there's stress associated with that. Obviously there's this other group of people who have found themselves in non-essential jobs and they're having stress because their job was furloughed 4:06 and we've heard the statistics obviously we have a lot of people who have been sent home and are on unemployment," says Bryan Day CEO of 12 and 12, Inc.
When someone calls, Day says, "The phone call begins the process of an admissions. It literally is an admission process. It's interacting with admissions councilors and admissions nurses. We are trying to do everything we can to ensure both that level of care and need is appropriate for the services 12 and 12 provide, or help somebody access other levels of care or other services such as our wonderful mental health provider group here in town."
Day adds, "We use evidence based tools. Most of the addiction providers have evidence based assessments that really help with those determinations. I often tell people mike, they know and their family members know when things have kind of crossed the line."
If you have crossed-the-line and you need help with an addiction.
